Local schools across Western Pennsylvania will benefit from a McDonald’s restaurant fundraiser next week.

From open to close on Wednesday, Oct. 9, dubbed Arch Support Digital Fundraiser Day, schools will earn 20% of all sales purchased through the McDonald’s app at their partner restaurant.

Across the tri-state area, 131 schools will each partner with one local McDonald’s restaurant. A minimum of $300 is guaranteed to each school, McDonald’s said in a news release.

Arch Support Digital Fundraiser Day will benefit a “wide range of educational programs,” according to the release. Local schools will determine how to use the funds.

Some examples of who will benefit:

  • Teacher Angie DeFelice’s pottery classes at South Fayette High School
  • Teacher Jessica Cerchiaro’s speech and debate team at Our Lady of The Sacred Heart in Moon Township
  • The athletic department at Oil City Area Senior High School in Venango County

“The Arch Support fundraiser is our way of giving back to the neighborhoods we serve,” Toni Hower, a McDonald’s owner/operator, said in a statement. “We’re hoping local communities will rally around their schools and help make the Arch Support Digital Fundraiser Day a big success.”
