Here are some of the latest news items from this morning, Friday, Feb. 10, 2023:
High winds caused overnight power outages across Pittsburgh region
Winds at speeds of up to 50 mph hit the Pittsburgh area late Thursday night and into early Friday morning, causing hundreds of power outages across the region.
As of 5:40 a.m. Friday, there were 466 reported power outages, according to Duquesne Light’s website.
The current power outages were concentrated in eastern Allegheny County, with Plum seeing more than 300 of those outages.
Tribune-Review news partners WPXI reported a traffic light was downed on Freeport Road at Pearl Street in Harmar at around 2 a.m., causing officials to block the road. Power was restored around 3 a.m. and the road reopened.
Person hospitalized after stabbing in Troy Hill
One person was stabbed in Pittsburgh’s Troy Hill on Thursday night and was sent to hospital.
Pittsburgh Police said they were called for a domestic situation and they found the stabbing victim at Hatteras Street at 11:55 p.m. Thursday, according to WTAE-TV.
The person stabbed was reported in stable condition.

Pa. bill proposed to ban government employees from using TikTok
The social media site TikTok has garnered criticism for its effects on youth and from government agencies for its ties to the Chinese government.
And now a Pennsylvania lawmaker is proposing a law that would bar the use of TikTok among some state employees.
State Sen. Kristin Phillips-Hill, R-York, has proposed legislation to ban all employees with state-owned devices from downloading TiTok.
TikTok is owned by Chinese company ByteDance. Many state governments across the U.S. have already passed restrictions on social media site.
“TikTok presents an unacceptable level of cyber espionage, collection of government data, and a threat to personal security,” Phillips-Hill said in a statement.
Phillips-Hill’s bill would need to pass the state Senate, the state House, and be signed by Gov. Josh Shapiro to become law.
Pennsylvania Treasurer Stacy Garrity, also a Republican, announced in December that she banned TikTok use on Treasury-owned phones and computers.
