PennDOT will hold two open house and hiring events in Washington and Westmoreland counties as it looks to employ workers to assist with upcoming winter maintenance tasks.

The first event is set for 1 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at PennDOT’s Washington County maintenance office, 170 Route 519, in North Bethlehem Township, south of Eighty Four and Interstate 70.

The second is slated for 1 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Westmoreland County maintenance office, 144 Donohoe Road, Hempfield Township.

Temporary positions are available for CDL (commercial driver’s license) operators, highway maintenance workers, semi-skilled laborers, tradesman helpers and clerical assistants.

There also are permanent job openings for CDL operators, mechanics and maintenance repairmen, with the possibility of moving into permanent employment from an initial temporary position.

PennDOT staff will be on hand at the events to answer questions and help with the application process. Those attending are asked to bring two forms of identification, as there might be on-the-spot interviews and conditional job offers for some positions.

Visit employment.pa.gov for more information or to apply in advance.

Questions about the hiring events also may be directed to dfarabee@pa.gov or 724-223-4480 for the Washington County session and to meforni@pa.gov or 724-832-5387 for the session in Westmoreland County.
