An Indiana University of Pennsylvania police officer fired a shot at a robbery suspect just outside the campus’ football stadium on Oct. 29, 2023.

A Pittsburgh man pleaded guilty Tuesday in connection with an attack on an Indiana University of Pennsylvania police officer who was investigating a false report about a robbery, according to Indiana County District Attorney Robert F. Manzi Jr.

Cameron Raubaugh, 20, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and false reports.

State police said Raubaugh called 911 at 9:30 p.m. Oct. 29 to claim a robbery happened in the parking lot of George P. Miller Stadium and that the suspect had a knife and was wearing all black clothing. In a parking lot there, university police found a man matching that description who was later identified as Raubaugh.

He was accused of charging at police with the knife, pushing an officer to the ground. An officer fired a shot, and Raubaugh ran from the area. He was captured a few blocks away.

Raubaugh was forbidden from being on the IUP campus as a result, Manzi said.

He also pleaded guilty Tuesday to trespass in a second case that Manzi said stemmed from a Feb. 9 incident in which Raubaugh was taken into custody on campus.

He is scheduled for sentencing July 29.
