Pittsburgh man sentenced for 2013 slaying of man who tried to stop a robbery
The man police say was responsible for killing a grocery store customer during a 2013 bank robbery in Washington County has been sentenced to 20 to 40 years in a state prison, according to Trib news partner WTAE.
Keith D. Wilk, 41, of Pittsburgh, pleaded guilty to third-degree murder and robbery, the news outlet reported. He was scheduled for plea court Friday, according to online court records.
Wilk’s arrest came nearly a decade after authorities said he killed Vincent Kelley, 46, who attempted to stop a robbery at the Citizens Bank at the South Strabane Giant Eagle on June 16, 2013.
Witnesses at the time told the Trib that as other shoppers were seeking cover, Kelley, of Washington, headed toward the robber running with a duffel bag and gun, chasing him to his car. The robber then shot him several times and fled.
At the time of Wilk’s arrest in December 2022, authorities said DNA evidence linked him to the homicide.
