Police: Fayette couple found with psychedelic mushrooms, 54 marijuana plants
A Fayette County couple faces multiple felony charges after state police say they discovered marijuana and psychedelic mushrooms in their home during a child welfare check.
Jason A. Nicholson, 37, and Melisa D. Nicholson, 40, both of Everson, were each charged with four counts of drug possession as well as four counts of endangering the welfare of a child, according to court records.
State police were assisting Fayette County Child & Youth Services with a Nov. 7 visit at a Penn Avenue home after receiving a child abuse complaint. Police got a search warrant after seeing the house in dirty condition and smelling a strong odor of marijuana, according to a state police release.
Officers allegedly seized 54 marijuana plants, psychedelic mushrooms and related items.
Four children, ages 5 to 11, were in the home.
In addition to the drug possession and child endangerment charges, both were also charged with two counts of drug manufacturing.
They face a Nov. 20 preliminary hearing in District Judge Nathan Henning’s Uniontown court, according to court records.
Both were released from the Fayette County Prison after posting $10,000 bail.
