A man was arrested in New York after allegedly stealing a school bus in Buffalo Township.

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office announced on Facebook that they had arrested Justin M. Preedom, 30, of Avon, N.Y., on charges of felony possession of stolen property.

Last Monday, Aug. 24, sheriff’s deputies responded to a complaint in East Avon, where someone reported a school bus with Pennsylvania license plates was on the property. Deputies confirmed the bus had been stolen.

The sheriffs accuse Preedom of stealing the bus in Pennsylvania and driving it to his Avon home.

A representative of the W.L. Roenigk, based in Buffalo Township, confirmed the stolen bus was theirs.

She said no one authorized to comment further was available Saturday.

Preedom was charged with criminal possession of stolen property, a second-degree felony. A New York magistrate released Preedom on his own recognizance.

Livingston County investigators are working with officials in Pennsylvania, where Preedom may face additional charges.

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office said no further information was available at this time.
