Troopers seek suspect who assaulted, robbed 80-year-old Fayette County man

State police in Uniontown are seeking help identifying the driver of a blue Chevrolet Malibu who allegedly assaulted and robbed an 80-year-old Dunbar Township man outside his home Thursday.
State Trooper Robert Broadwater said the victim had just visited an ATM at the PNC Bank branch along Route 119 in Connellsville, stopped at a McDonald’s restaurant to purchase a coffee and returned to his nearby home about 4:30 p.m.
“The victim had just parked in his driveway, stepped out of the car, when this middle-aged man driving a dark blue Chevrolet Malibu stopped along the road and asked him directions to Butler. The victim told the man he was a long way from Butler and he couldn’t help him because he didn’t know the precise directions,” Broadwater said.
“The victim then turned around and started to walk away when the suspect got out of his vehicle and bull rushed the man and took his wallet. The victim was able to throw his coffee on the robber,” Broadwater said.
Broadwater said the victim was not hurt but lost the unspecified amount he was carrying in his wallet.
“We’re not sure whether he was followed from the ATM, the McDonald’s or if he was just passing by and stopped. But we are asking for any information anyone may have on it,” Broadwater said.
Troopers released a photograph of the fleeing suspect’s car Friday.
