Washington County man arrested after stabbing in Coal Center
A Washington County man is facing homicide charges following the death of a 27-year-old man in Coal Center, according to the Washington County District Attorney.
Dylan Lesnik, 27, of Coal Center, was arrested after police found Marshal Y. Craig dead in his Spring Street home of apparent stab wounds, District Attorney Eugene Vittone said.
State police and Southwest Regional Police officers responded to the apartment complex Friday afternoon for reports of a man bleeding. They found Craig dead; he had been stabbed in his torso and neck, according to a criminal complaint.
Officers also found that Craig’s vehicle was missing.
An investigation identified Lesnik, who also lives in the apartment building, as a suspect. Police tracked him down at a trailer park in Luzerne, Fayette County where police say he was hiding in a Ford F-150 truck. Craig’s vehicle was also found in the trailer park.
Lesnik was taken to the state police station in Belle Vernon.
According to the criminal complaint, officers said he confessed to murdering Craig, then stabbing him multiple times after he died, and stealing his vehicle.
Lesnik is facing multiple charges, among them criminal homicide, theft and abuse of a corpse.
Details on when a preliminary hearing will be held were not immediately available. Coal Center is a small town along the Monogahela River, adjacent to California Borough.
Lesnik was also wanted in connection with an aggravated assault involving a knife that occurred earlier this week.
According to court dockets, Lesnik is facing charges for an incident last Monday. Among the charges are attempted homicide, aggravated assault, terroristic threats and recklessly endangering another person. It could immediately be determined who the alleged victim was in that case.
State police and members of the Southwest Regional Police Department are investigating the Friday incident.
