Week's winter warmup: Temperatures to reach into 60s, rain likely later
A late winter warmup will hit the Pittsburgh area Monday, with temperatures forecasted to eclipse the 60s multiple times this week.
The region will experience above-average temperatures from Monday through Wednesday ahead of an expected cold front that will reach Southwestern Pennsylvanian later in the week, according to TribLive news partner WTAE.
High temperatures will rise into the high 50s on Monday and then eclipse 60 degrees Tuesday and Wednesday, reported WTAE meteorologist Brian Hutton.
Hutton said thunderstorm chances are possibly early Wednesday morning and strong wind gusts will likely follow storms, reaching 40 mph in parts of the area.

“There is not a real washout here, but a shower or two will be around through the day,” Hutton said. “Because of a soggy Wednesday, and the potential rough evening commute, Wednesday is an Impact Day.”
Things will cool off after a cold front starts to move into the region Thursday, and some snowflakes are possibly as the cold front migrates over the area, reported WTAE.
Even so, sunshine and warming temperatures will return this upcoming weekend, with highs expected in the middle 60s by Sunday.
