Riverview clarifies use of district logo

A statement regarding the unauthorized use of Riverview School District’s logo has been released to the public:
“The Riverview School District is a public entity serving a diverse population of students, staff, parents and community members. As such, the district holds no political affiliation. Additionally, the use of all district logos should be in accordance with the Riverview School District Branding Guide and with the full consent and permission of the district administration.”
The statement was issued in response to a recent incident in which the district’s logo was mistakenly incorporated into a political event, giving the unintentional perception that the district was endorsing a political party and candidate.
“We cannot, and will not give the impression that we support any particular candidate or political affiliation. We will also ensure that all of our affiliates and school sponsored organizations are consistent with that mission as well,” Riverview Superintendent Neil English said. “In addition, we will be updating our policies on the use of any district logo or representation thereof, both now and in the past, to be in accordance with our branding guide and with the consent of the administration. These are going to be focus areas of the district over the next few months.”
