Riverview High School sophomore Riley Russell, who plays string bass, has been selected to participate in the 2022 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association All-State Orchestra Festival.
The festival is scheduled for April 6-9 at the Kalahari Resort and Convention Center in the Poconos and will include rehearsals, sectionals, clinician workshops and concert performances. Top students in 10th through 12th grades were accepted to All-State Orchestra, and Riley was one of only 14 string bassists selected to participate.
She also participated in the PMEA Senior High District Orchestra, where she placed in the top of her section and qualified to participate at the regional orchestra, held Feb. 25 in DuBois.
In addition to being a member of the Riverview Select String Ensemble and section leader of the high school orchestra, Riley is a member of the Riverview marching, concert and jazz bands, and she is a member of the Three Rivers Young Peoples Orchestra, based in Downtown Pittsburgh.
