Scene 75 in Edgewood reopening indoor entertainment complex
The indoor entertainment complex Scene 75 in the Edgewood Towne Center will reopen this weekend.
The entertainment venue closed its doors March 12, a week before state officials announced the shutdown of non-life-sustaining businesses. Since then, the venue has held online contests via its Facebook page and offered ideas for activities from at-home kid-friendly projects to planning a quarantine birthday party.
Scene 75, which first opened in late 2018 inside an old Kmart store, will reopen Friday with enhanced safety and cleaning protocols in place, according to marketing manager Maggie McCartney.
McCartney said the company spent months learning and sharing best practices for mitigating the risk of covid-19 in a place such as an indoor entertainment complex. They’ve laid out those plans in an online “playbook.”
Guests must wear masks and be seated to eat or drink. Food and beverage offerings will be limited. There will also be a lower occupancy limit for both the building and for individual activities within the complex. Employees will be screened for covid-19 symptoms and must wear masks, and they will clean surfaces on a regular schedule.
The venue will be open only on weekends for now, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays.
The Scene 75 location in Columbus, Ohio, reopened in June, and founder Jonah Sandler told ABC6 the financial hit from the pandemic was difficult.
“We actually went from near-record revenues across our five locations to a complete halt, so it’s been a challenge to say the least,” Sandler told the television station.
