Volunteer gardeners wanted in Leetsdale

Leetsdale officials plan to work with environmental nonprofit Grow Pittsburgh to start a community garden program. The program requires at least six dedicated volunteers by Aug. 2.

Grow Pittsburgh is expected to cover the cost of setting up the garden on public property and provide mentoring for up to two growing seasons.

Meetings planned

• Leetsdale council will meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 8 at the borough building, 373 Beaver St.

• Bell Acres council will meet at 6 p.m. Aug. 12 at the fire hall at 1850 Big Sewickley Creek Road.

• Leet commissioners will meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 12 at the township building, 194 Ambridge Ave.

• Sewickley council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 13 at the borough building, 601 Thorn St.

• Sewickley Hills council will meet at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 13 at the borough building, 349 Magee Road.

• Sewickley Heights council will meet at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 19 at the borough hall, 238 Country Club Road.

• Aleppo commissioners will meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 19 at the municipal building, 100 North Drive.

• Glen Osborne council will meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 20 at Osborne Elementary School, 1414 Beaver St.

• Edgeworth council will meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 20 at the borough building, 301 Beaver Road.

Fact finding mission

Quaker Valley Council of Governments’ board of delegates will be seeking input from member communities in the coming weeks and months to build upon and finalize an intergovernmental agreement regarding Route 65.

COG executive director Patrick Conners said they are in the fact-finding and engagement phase with members in order to get their feedback.

More information about what the COG hopes to do about Route 65, as well as a deadline for the intergovernmental agreement, has not been announced.

Library event planned

Sewickley Public Library will host a Sahaja meditation class from 11 a.m. to noon Aug. 3 at 500 Thorn St. No registration is required. Business networking

BNI Village Connections will host an in-person business networking meeting at the Walter J. Brannon Community Center on Aug. 1 from 7:30-9 a.m. All business professionals are welcome to attend. For more information, call 412-908-1388.
