Bloom Market

Sweetwater Center for the Arts is partnering with local businesses Green Hen Farms and Two Little Blooms Garden for Sweetwater Blooms Market, a once-monthly, fresh flower market that will sell flowers, local artwork and garden-related items.

It pops up on Bank Street between Broad and Walnut streets in Sewickley this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 17. The market takes place once a month on Saturdays from May-October. For more information, visit sweetwatercenter.org.

Salt Cellar Films

Nicholas Geisler and Bennett Cordon, co-founders of Los Angeles-based Salt Cellar Productions, will be at The Lindsay Theater on Aug. 15 at 7:30 p.m. to screen three diverse and compelling short films, participate in a Q&A and reveal exclusive details about the feature film Salt Cellar plans to shoot throughout Pittsburgh next year. The showcase is a free event, but guests will need to RSVP in advance due to space limitations.

The three short films screening at The Lindsay, all produced by Geisler and Cordon, are “When You Became Us,” “Come As You Are” and “Shut Up, Jack.”

For more information or to RSVP, visit thelindsaytheater.org.

Big Sewickley Creek VFD celebration

The Ladies Auxiliary of Big Sewickley Creek Volunteer Fire Department invites all present and past residents, members of the fire department and auxiliary and families to a celebration at the Bell Acres fire department from noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 24. The department will show off its newest fire truck, all the equipment, improvements in the social hall, firemen/women and auxiliary members.

Visit inside the hall to see photos and memorabilia from the past 75 years. While inside, enjoy one of our famous rotisserie hot dogs, fresh popped popcorn and a cold drink, compliments of the auxiliary. The firemen will be explaining the fire trucks and having some demonstrations.
