Sewickley Academy hosts annual Veterans Day assembly on campus

Sewickley Academy hosted Lieutenant Commander (ret.) Dan Dishart, U.S. Marines/U.S. Naval Reserve as guest speaker during the annual middle and senior school Veterans Day assembly held Nov. 11.

First-graders presented a sign language version of The Star Spangled Banner onstage in the Rea Auditorium.

Dishart is a graduate of West Virginia University.

Seventh-grader Nolan Hulton presented on the topic of what Veterans Day meant to him and emphasized the importance of honoring the men and woman who have served in the armed forces.

Students Severin Harmon and Rayna Thakkar presented the recognition of veterans with the introduction of Taps and the Navy Bell.

Taps was played by student Elijah Koziar, who was accompanied by choral teacher Timothy Heavner.

Student Ben Glass wrapped up the event with with the ringing of the bell.
