The third and final Tapas Talks event of the season was held on Oct. 24 in the Grand Ballroom of the Allegheny Country Club, featuring an engaging presentation on artificial intelligence by Dr. Byron Galbraith and David Pawloski.
More than 120 annual subscribers gathered for the event, which began with a tapas buffet before the program.
Galbraith opened the talk with a brief overview of AI history — beginning in 1943 — setting the stage for both speakers to explore the capabilities and potential of the transformative technology. Given the complexity of artificial intelligence, Galbraith and Pawlowski focused on providing accessible insights and practical takeaways, ensuring that the audience members left with a foundational understanding of AI’s impact on society.
Following the formal presentation, the audience engaged in a lively Q&A session facilitated by Tapas Talks board member Holly Hampe. Attendees submitted questions that spurred insightful discussions on the future impact of artificial intelligence, methods for discerning the accuracy of AI-generated information, and ways to detect potential biases within AI content. This interactive segment allowed the audience to explore the broader implications of AI, making for a thought-provoking conclusion to the event. After the program concluded, attendees continued their discussions in an informal setting, enjoying a delicious ice cream and cookie dessert bar. This relaxed atmosphere allowed participants to delve deeper into the topic of AI, fostering connections and furthering conversations sparked by the presentation.
The mission of Tapas Talks is to inform, inspire, connect and give back to the Sewickley community by offering an inviting venue where neighbors can celebrate one another’s achievements.
The 2025 speaker line-up has been established and will be sent out soon.
