Four spots on the Shaler school board were open for the public to fill during the Nov. 2 election and Shaler residents voters chose to re-elect two members and bring two new members on.
Board members Tim Gapsky, who was cross-filed on the ballot and Democrat April Kwiatkowski were re-elected to their seats in Region 1. Gapsky received 1,418 votes and Kwiatkowski received 1,719, according to the Allegheny County Office of Elections unofficial election results.
“I appreciate the Shaler community for their trust in me for four more years,” Gapsky said.
Democrat Elizabeth Dunn in Region 2 and Edward J. Kress, who was cross-filed, in Region 3 are the newest members of the board. Kress will be filling the position previously held by Steve Romac, who lost in the primary, and Dunn will be taking the place of Suzanna Donahue, who did not run for re-election.
Dunn beat out Republican Ken Klinvex by more than 300 votes, with Dunn receiving 1,862 and Klinvex coming in with 1,546 votes for Region 2.
Kress ran unopposed in Region 3.
All will be sworn in on Dec. 8.
