Shaler eyeing $1.5 million in road paving

Shaler commissioners are eyeing a hearty road paving program this year, with nearly two dozen streets on the list for improvements.

Manager Tim Rogers said the board allotted $1.5 million for road work as part of this year’s $14.5 million budget.

The list includes:

• Locust Ridge, Chapleau, Mica, Peters, Georgia, Spruce and Cherrywood drives.

• Newland Lane.

• Grall Avenue Extension.

• Grant, Oak and Mary avenues.

• Dressel Road.

• Duquesne and Elm streets.

• Northaven Circle and Court.

• Iola Street from Lucille to Vilsack.

• Elfinwild Lane from Mt. Royal to Richard.

• Fieldstone from Rosebriar to Primrose.

• Skylark Drive from Richard to Belladonna.

“We hope to put it out for bid before the end of the month with approval in April,” Rogers said.

Board and committee appointments

In other news, commissioners approved the following board/committee appointments:

• Ann Carlson and Lori Mizgorski to the Shaler North Hills Library board for three-year terms.

• Gregory Greiff to the planning commission for a four-year term.

• John Rihn to the unexpired term for planning commission fire liaison through 2024.

• Tim Rogers to the Educational Service Agency for a three-year term.

• William Cross to the Shaler Hampton EMS Board for a three-year term.

• Charles Porter to the zoning hearing board for a three-year term.

• John Rihn as deputy emergency management coordinator for four years.
