Police and medics responding to a reported dog bite early Sunday morning ended up filing charges against the victim after she fought with and bled on officers, public safety officials said.
Police from Zone 6 and EMS responded to a home on the 3000 block of Motor Street in Pittsburgh’s Sheraden neighborhood just after 3 a.m., for a report of a woman attacked by a dog.
Police said the woman had gained entry to a family member’s home when the dog attacked and bit her on the arm. Police said she also had a severe injury on her left index finger, which was unrelated to the dog attack.
When medics tried to prepare the woman for transport, police said she refused to wear a mask and “became physically aggressive with them, getting blood on one of the officers,” according to Pittsburgh Police public information officer Cara Cruz.
She was taken to the hospital and police were applying for a warrant for her arrest, Cruz said.
