A Baldwin man has been charged with arson in connection with a Thursday fire along Revo Road.
Vincent Chalmers, 46, is charged with two counts of endangering people by arson and one count of endangering property by arson.
In a criminal complaint filed against Chalmers, police said Richard Revo told them he saw Chalmers throwing gasoline on the side of the house and on its front porch.
Chalmers, who goes by the nickname of “Moe,” was then seen entering the house through the front door, “still throwing gasoline,” according to the complaint.
Revo told police he is the owner of the house that Chalmers set ablaze. The house used to belong to his grandparents, but he has been renting it out to the Chalmers family for 40 years, he said.
The complaint said Revo told police Chalmers’ father died the night before the fire.
According to Tribune-Review news partner WPXI, Chalmers’ brothers — Philip and Paul Chalmers, both 49 — were charged Wednesday with aggravated assault and obstructing emergency services after they allegedly attacked paramedics that were called to the same house because their father was having trouble breathing.
The same brothers also later damaged an EMS vehicle at the hospital when they found out their father died, according to court records.
Court records also show Paul and Philip Chalmers’ bail was set to $50,000 each on Wednesday. Dockets do not show either having attorneys representing them.
Revo reported the fire at around 2:45 p.m. on Thursday. Police said the house was a total loss but that no one was injured in the blaze.
Arson investigation detectives of the Allegheny County Police Department assisted Baldwin police.
The complaint says that Revo told police he saw Vincent Chalmers, on fire, running into the woods behind the house as it burned.
Police said Chalmers was located and arrested by Pennsylvania State Police in the Meadville area later Thursday.
He is being held there until he is extradited to Allegheny County to face the arson charges, police said.
