Babies born recently at Jefferson Hospital in Jefferson Hills donned “I Count” onesies to remind parents that every child counts in the census.

Any baby born before April 1, 2020, should be counted for their household in the census.

“Young children are one of the populations that the Census Bureau has identified as at risk for undercounting,” said Nikki Buccina, senior public relations analyst for Allegheny Health Network.

While April 1 has been deemed Census Day, according to the United States Census Bureau, it is just a reference date and not a deadline.

The census can be completed via mail, phone or online at 2020census.gov.
