A Beechview man is accused by Bethel Park police of filming a 14-year-old girl trying on clothing in a fitting room at a store inside South Hills Village, according to a criminal complaint.

Police said they found the 30-second video of the girl on a cellphone belonging to Miguel M. Corio Marcos, 23. He was charged Tuesday with unlawful contact with a minor, criminal use of a communication facility, corruption of minors and invasion of privacy.

Hollister employees and mall security were notified moments after the girl spotted a phone perched over the fitting room walls around 1:30 p.m. July 2 while she was trying on two shirts and a pair of pants, according to court papers. Authorities searched for the suspect based on the girl’s description but couldn’t locate him.

Bethel Park detectives examined surveillance video from the mall and found a man matching her description was inside Hollister for eight minutes. He eventually left the building and boarded a trolley destined for Castle Shannon at 1:46 p.m.

Police identified the suspect as Corio Marcos based on previous dealings with him, according to the complaint. On July 7, authorities armed with a search warrant went to Corio Marcos’ home, but learned he had been committed to UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital three days earlier.

At the hospital, police said Corio Marcos did not acknowledge his presence at South Hills Village on July 2 and did not respond to questions about taking photos or video of someone in a fitting room. Police said they found the video, which matched the 14-year-old girl’s description of the events, on his phone.

Corio Marcos had not been arraigned on the charges as of Wednesday morning. He did not have an attorney listed in online court records. No hearings had been scheduled.

He is awaiting trial in a June 2021 case in West Mifflin involving charges of corruption of minors, unlawful contact with a minor, indecent assault of a person younger than 16 and escape, according to online court records. Corio Marcos has been free on $5,000 bail in that case.
