Saint Benedict the Moor Elementary School in Pittsburgh’s Hill District will close through Memorial Day because of five positive covid cases in the past eight days.

School families were notified of the situation and will be updated through the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh.

“With the unpredictable nature of covid-19 and the challenges it presents, it is in the school’s best interest to temporarily close our facilities for in-person learning at this time,” Principal Audrey Bowser said in a news release.

Following the state’s protocols for covid-related school closures, St. Benedict will reopen June 1.
