Shaler Area High School student Ivy Wegner won honorable mention in the 10th-12th grade category of the WPCTE (Western Pennsylvania Council of Teachers of English) Flash Fiction Contest. Wegner’s entry, “The Key,” was one of only five who earned this award in her grade category. Students were asked to write a very short story, less than 500 words, with a plot and developed characters. Wegner’s story was about a mysterious key to a drawer that held secrets.

• Dylan Beranek and Robert Leppert were named to the dean’s list at Miami University for the fall 2024 semester.

Rebecca Schiavone was named to the president’s list at Miami University for the fall 2024 semester.

Lydia Bailey was named to the dean’s honor list at Cedarville University for the fall 2024 semester.

Nathaniel Hines was named to the dean’s list at Susquehanna University for the fall 2024 semester.
