Seven Fields Borough Council on Dec. 11 approved a four-year contract for police services to begin in early 2024 from the Northern Regional Police Department.
The contract will cost Seven Fields $650,000 in its first year, according to a statement posted on the Seven Fields website.
Northern Regional will provide the borough with public safety, law enforcement and traffic enforcement services and conduct criminal investigations.
Seven Fields is located in Butler County and is home to about 2,000 people. Seven Fields had been participating in a joint police department with Evans City. But Seven Fields officials determined in 2022 that the arrangement was no longer sustainable.
The new agreement gives Seven Fields access to more than four-dozen Northern Regional officers and staff; a K-9 unit; a special response team and a traffic detail, said Seven Fields Mayor Dean Galitsis.
“The new agreement is also very fiscally sound,” he said. “For only a modest increase in our annual police services budget, we are receiving the extremely heightened police services I have detailed.”
Seven Fields residents will continue to dial 911 in an emergency. Calls for non-emergency services can be made to 724- 625-3157.
The Northern Regional Police Department serves the communities of Pine, Marshall, Bradford Woods and Richland.
