With summer coming to a close, you might think the Upper St. Clair-Bethel Park Rotary Breakfast Club members would be exhausted from their 22-week-long farmer’s market.

The market runs through Sept. 28 in the parking lot across the street from Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2040 Washington Road, and this year boasted the best turnout of new vendors and attendees.

“So many vendors tell us that this is one of the most successful markets they attend. That’s why we’ve actually had to turn some vendors down,” said Bill Findle, a longtime USC-BP Rotarian and past farmer’s market co-chair. “We are thrilled that after taking this community event over from the Lions club many years ago, that we have continued such a strong presence right here in the heart of Upper St. Clair.”

With anchors like Simmons and Jodikinos farms, Loafers Bread, Beatnik Sweet Eats, Lil’ Debby’s Delights, Wild River Kettle Korn, BroChachos Salsa, Beedle’s Ice Cream and Bad Azz BBQ returning, there was something for everyone this season. The market added over 10 new vendors this year, including the USC Crafters Guild, Rescue Dogs, South Hills Children’s Choir and Forlini’s Italian.

“We also hear from community members who say how they love the ability to walk to the market from their nearby neighborhoods just to grab dinner,” said Janice LeValley, co-chair of this year’s market.

With the market nearing it close, the club will now turn its attention to the upcoming 34th annual Chicken BBQ fundraiser on Oct. 28. Event co-chair Scott Churchill hopes to surpass last year’s record of $50,000 raised. To purchase tickets, visit rb.gy/6kmwa.
