The Big Kmart located in Hyde Park Shopping Plaza in Allegheny Township closed its pharmacy.

A posted sign at the store alerted customers that the closing was effective Monday.

In a statement previously provided to the Tribune-Review, Transformco, a Chicago-based public relations firm representing Kmart, confirmed the Allegheny Township store is scheduled to close by mid-December.

The closing announcement for the last remaining Kmart in the Alle-Kiski Valley area is the result of Sears Holdings’ Chapter 11 filing protection on Oct. 15, 2018 — citing financial woes and massive revenue losses.

Liquidation sales are expected to be held this month.
