Allegheny Township police charge man with strangling, beating woman during dispute

An Allegheny Township man has been charged with strangling and beating a woman during an argument on Tuesday, according to authorities.
Robert Fouse, 70, of Velvet Lane is being held in the Westmoreland County Prison after failing to post $30,000 bond set during his arraignment before District Judge Cheryl Peck Yakopec.
Fouse was charged on Thursday with a felony count of strangulation along with simple assault, willful restraint and harassment, according to a criminal complaint filed by Allegheny Township police in support of the charges.
Police say Fouse verbally abused the woman while they were arguing and then punched her in the face and tried to strangle her with his hands.
Fouse also is accused of refusing to allow the woman to leave and then pushing her off a bed and kicking her, police said.
After getting away from Fouse the following morning, the woman went to a local hospital for treatment and learned that she had suffered a broken bone in her back, police said.
Officers who interviewed the woman said they saw bruises on her face and neck.
Fouse faces a preliminary hearing on the charges before Peck Yakopec on Oct. 19. He did not yet have an attorney listed in court records.
