An Apollo man told police he woke to a masked man pistol-whipping him during a robbery and a fight ensued.
The allegations led state police to charge a Vandergrift man with attempted homicide stemming from the apparent robbery.
Javon Michael Lambert, 21, faces 11 felony charges, among them attempted homicide and robbery.
Troopers said they responded to a reported robbery at an Apollo residence around 4 a.m. March 18.
Police said the victim said he had been sleeping and woke to someone pistol whipping him with what appeared to be his own gun.
In the complaint filed by police, the victim said he tried to retrieve the gun but the man, wearing a ski mask, jumped on him and a fight ensued, flipping over the bed.
The alleged victim said he was able to remove the mask from the intruder and identify him as Lambert, according to the complaint.
The complaint said Lambert put the barrel of the gun to the victim’s cheek and pulled the trigger, but the gun didn’t fire.
The victim told police that Lambert hit him in the face with the gun, causing multiple cuts that required medical treatment.
Lambert told the victim not to move and demanded money, threatening to kill him and everyone else in the home, according to the complaint.
Police said Lambert stole two firearms registered to the victim before fleeing the residence.
The complaint did not include details surrounding Lambert’s arrest.
Lambert also is charged with assault, aggravated assault, burglary, possession of a firearm and trespassing, court records show. Misdemeanor charges include simple assault and making terroristic threats. He was taken to the Armstrong County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bond.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 31, online court records show. The records did not list an attorney for Lambert.
