Arnold police say heroin, cocaine, crack found during traffic stop; 2 men face felony charges
One of two men accused of being drug dealers after an Arnold police officer said heroin, cocaine and crack were found inside their vehicle has been ordered to stand trial.
Izik David Fletcher, 28, of the 500 block of Esther Avenue in New Kensington was arrested Feb. 5. He was charged with three felony counts of possession of drugs with the intent to deliver. He was released from custody after a Greensburg bail agency posted a $75,000 cash bond on his behalf, according to court records.
District Judge Frank J. Pallone Jr. ordered Fletcher, at his preliminary hearing Thursday, to stand trial in Westmoreland County Common Pleas Court, court records show.
A second man in the vehicle, Davi Ramon, 27, of New Kensington faces the same felony drug-dealing charges. A date for his preliminary hearing before Pallone has not yet been scheduled.
Police wrote in Fletcher’s criminal complaint that an officer on patrol in the 2000 block of Kenneth Avenue began following a 2021 Ford Escape with a burned-out license plate bulb after the driver pulled away from the curb without signaling.
The driver failed to signal a second time when it pulled over along Kenneth before driving onto Equator Alley, where it stopped, the complaint said.
As the officer approached the vehicle, he told the driver, later identified as Fletcher, to show his hands after seeing him reaching around inside the SUV, police said.
Ramon, who was in the back seat, also put his hands through the window when the officer approached, the complaint said.
Both men were ordered to exit the car and were searched for weapons, police said. Ramon told the officer he had a knife on his right leg, which was confiscated, according to the complaint.
Police said two backpacks, one black and one green, were on the rear floorboard of the vehicle and that the green one had a “bulge” protruding.
Fletcher said he didn’t know anything about the backpacks, police said.
Ramon told the officer that he had the large “wad” of cash found in the pocket of his cargo pants when he was searched because they planned to go out for dinner, the complaint said.
Fletcher agreed to let police search the vehicle, where police found 57.3 grams of heroin, 55.2 grams of powdered cocaine and 15.4 grams of crack cocaine inside the green backpack, according to the complaint.
