Officials found a body Saturday in the Allegheny River near the Fox Chapel Yacht Club.
The report of the body floating in the water came in about 11:30 a.m., Allegheny County spokeswoman Amie Downs said.
The club’s workers found the body wedged beside or under the dock.
Blawnox Volunteer Fire Chief George McBriar told Trib news partner WPXI-TV that the body appeared to have been in the river “for a while.”
The county Medical Examiner’s Office arrived at the boating club off Old Freeport Road in O’Hara shortly before 1 p.m.
Soon after, officials retrieved the body from the water alongside a dock.
The person was not immediately identified.
Few details were available, but an official at the scene told the Tribune-Review that the person’s death did not appear to be related to a boating accident.
Allegheny County homicide detectives are investigating.
