A Brackenridge man is accused of injuring two people when he opened fire on them early Monday in Tarentum after a woman he knew got into an argument with the pair along Corbet Street.

Allegheny County Police identified the alleged shooter as Steven Jermain Prezzie, 44.

Prezzie faces two counts each of aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and one count each of carrying a firearm without a license and drug possession, which are all felonies, according to the court docket. He also was charged with two counts of reckless endangerment.

Prezzie was arrested Thursday and released on a $25,000 unsecured bond. He was ordered to appear for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Carolyn Bengel on June 29, court records show.

County police also charged Freedom Brown, 41, of Brackenridge with two felony counts of conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and two counts of making terroristic threats.

Investigators said two people suffered cuts and bruises while running from the gunfire, and eight 9 mm shell casings were found at the scene.

Officers responding to the intersection of Sixth Avenue and Corbet Street about 2:45 a.m. Monday found a woman near the railroad tracks who told them she was shot in the leg.

Police said the injury was, instead, a cut to the knee. A second person suffered cuts to the hand while running away from the gunshots, according to investigators.

Police said they were able to view video from nearby surveillance cameras that captured the incident.

According to a criminal complaint filed against Brown, the two people who were injured were standing at East Fifth Avenue and Corbet Street arguing with Brown while she was standing across the railroad tracks from them.

During the argument, a light-colored Buick SUV pulled up and two men stepped out, according to police.

Brown pointed in the direction of the two people with whom she was arguing, and Prezzie, who was driving, allegedly raised a pistol and fired eight rounds in their direction. Brown, Prezzie and the other man then got in the vehicle and drove off.

Police said they found a vehicle matching the description of the one involved in the incident in front of Brown’s home along Sixth Avenue in Brackenridge.

Tarentum officers said Brown was walking nearby and took her into custody.

Information about her arraignment or a date for a preliminary hearing have not yet been posted to online court records.

According to investigators, the incident began with an argument at the Marathon gas station near the foot of the Tarentum Bridge. The victims said they were out having drinks and ran into Brown at the gas station.

The male victim got into an verbal argument with Brown, who, according to police, told the pair, “I’m gonna get my (expletive) to kill you.”

Brown told police she felt disrespected by a man at the gas station, who called her a name and pushed her.

Footage from the gas station shows Brown and the male victim pushing each other, police said.

Brown left the Marathon station before the pair she was fighting with, police said, but encountered them again near the tracks.
