Building the Valley: Pittsburgh Coffee Co. truck rolls into Lower Burrell with freshly roasted brews
Like many, Morgan Lineman of Lower Burrell likes a good cup of coffee or a mocha, latte or cold brew.
When Lineman, 28, lost her job during the pandemic while she was pregnant, the Lower Burrell woman and her husband charted a new course.
“We decided to start something on our own so we don’t have to depend on anybody else,” she said.
They settled on starting a business doing what she loves — brewing freshly roasted coffee — and offering it to others at multiple locations.
Lineman’s Pittsburgh Coffee Co. truck went full throttle in mid-August with stops at the Lower Burrell Farmers Market, community fairs and other events.
“The great thing is we are mobile, and we’ll come to you,” Lineman said.
She prefers the mobile coffee cafe to reach multiple customers. On many Thursdays, she parks at Forza Motorcars along Leechburg Road.
“I’m very excited that Pittsburgh Coffee Co. is stationed in Lower Burrell for events and regular stops,” said Lower Burrell Councilman Chris Fabry.
“There is a definite need for coffee and specialty coffee drinks in Lower Burrell,” he said.
Plus, Fabry said, it’s great that a local couple “sees a need in something they are passionate about and take action.”
Wanting to use locally sourced products, Lineman buys her coffee from Commonplace Coffee in Pittsburgh’s Strip District.
The spacious trailer window, about 6 feet by 4 feet, provides a window into the clean, uncluttered galley of coffee machines for Lineman to whip up a variety of fresh brews.
The current bestseller is the pumpkin cold brew. But that soon will change when the holiday menu kicks off with cookies and cream cold brew and vanilla cold brew with eggnog cold foam.
Coffee fans can follow the Pittsburgh Coffee Co.’s Facebook page for posts on Sunday that preview the coffee truck’s stops for that week.
In just several months, the page has racked up more than 1,100 followers.
