Car crashes at shooting scene in New Kensington, 2 days after another daylight street shooting in Arnold

Officials were investigating a shooting in New Kensington on Saturday, two days after a similar incident in the same area just over the border in Arnold.
A Westmoreland County 911 dispatcher said the incident occurred at about 4:30 p.m. in the 1300 block of Leishman Avenue, near Catalpa Street and Kenneth Avenue.
The dispatcher said someone in a car fired shots but then wrecked. That car wrecked at a sharp angle into one of the many cars parked on the street.
The driver ran from the scene and police, assisted by police dogs, were searching for the suspect in the area. Westmoreland County detectives and New Kensington police are investigating.
No one was injured, according to the dispatcher.
New Kensington Police Chief Robert Deringer could not immediately be reached for comment and a New Kensington detective was still at the scene investigating. Arnold Police Chief Eric Doutt said he had no information on the shooting.
Incident follows Arnold shooting
The incident comes two days after a man was shot in the foot in Arnold.
The incident occurred in the 1500 block of Kenneth Avenue, just on Arnold’s side of North Street from New Kensington. That shooting was reported to 911 at 1:10 p.m., a Westmoreland County dispatcher said. A car parked off the street on the New Kensington side of North Street was struck by gunfire.
Arnold Police Chief Eric Doutt said Thursday that police recovered 13 bullet casings.
Doutt said the victim was shot once in the foot, and the wound was not life-threatening. The victim was not cooperating with police, he said.
Police did not have a suspect. A dark-colored Jeep and a Dodge Avenger were reportedly in the area at the time, but Doutt said police did not know if they were involved.
Doutt said police were hoping to find video from residential surveillance cameras in the area.
Westmoreland County Detective John Clark said the two incidents may be related.
