CareerLink Alle-Kiski in New Kensington will hold a job fair open to all residents on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Westmoreland County Community College.

The job market still favors job seekers in many sectors, where openings outpace the number of workers.

Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate was down one-tenth of a percentage point over the month to 4.8 percent in April; the U.S. unemployment rate was unchanged over the month at 3.6 percent, according to the state Department of Labor & Industry.

Applicants can just show up at the job fair with their resumes. They should be prepared to speak about themselves to hiring managers and HR professionals, said Phil Grove, account representative for CareerLink.

“The companies participating in this week’s job fair are looking forward to meeting individuals interested in starting a new chapter in their careers,” he said.

“The demand for workers remains high in all industry sectors, particularly health care, manufacturing and service,” Grove said.

The job fair will feature representatives from Harmarville Care Center, Christian Home Healthcare, 7-Eleven, Aerotech, Versa-Fab, Westmoreland County Housing Authority, Packaging Corporation of America, Clean Express Auto Wash, Ross Dress for Less, Private Industry Council and Eichenlaub landscaping.

Registration is not required. Learn more about the event and Career Services via CareerLink’s website or call 724-334-8600.
