Students who graduate with an associate’s degree in nursing from the Community College of Allegheny County will have a new online option to pursue a bachelor of science degree in the future.

CCAC officials and administrators from Ohio University are scheduled to sign an articulation agreement Thursday that would formalize a path for Ohio University to accept students who have completed an associate degree in nursing at CCAC into a bachelor’s degree program that can be completed online.

The program is among a growing number of programs colleges and universities have designed to take students who have completed courses to qualify to be licensed as a registered nurse forward to a bachelor of science in nursing as the demand grows for nurses who have completed a bachelor’s degree.

The Ohio University program is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.
