Charges against West Deer Park vandals dropped after men agree to community service, restitution
Summary offenses for three men who West Deer police say damaged sports fields at two township parks last year by driving on them in a pickup were dismissed earlier this week, according to online court records.
Court records show criminal mischief charges brought against Ethan Adamiak, 19, Devin Andrew Colucci, 19, and Dalton James Shoop, 19, were dismissed Tuesday because the men agreed to pay restitution and perform 24 hours of community service each.
West Deer police didn’t reply to a message seeking comment.
Police charged all three men in December. The charges came about a month after township officials found the damaged fields at the Nike Site and Bairdford parks, which police said were caused by a pickup “doing donuts” in the grass.
Police said Colucci was driving the pickup, while Adamiak and Shoop were passengers.
According to police, the pickup drove in circles on the soccer and lacrosse fields at Nike Site Park and the soccer field, outer lawn and parking area of the baseball field at Bairdford Park. Officials saw the damage when they went to Nike Site Park for an unrelated matter in November, and reported it to police.
Police said images found online helped them identify the suspects.
Township supervisors earlier this year hired Hollibaugh Landscaping to repair the fields for nearly $20,000. Preliminary estimates from the township put the repair costs at more than $40,000.
Township Manager Dan Mator and Supervisors Chairman Arlind Karpuzi didn’t respond to requests for comment.
Adamiak and Shoop both paid $1,250 in restitution while Colucci paid $2,500, court records show.
Reached via email, Richard Keith Witchko, attorney for Shoop, told a Tribune-Review reporter, “This is not a newsworthy story.”
Colucci’s attorney, Charles John Porter, didn’t respond to a request for comment. Adamiak didn’t have an attorney listed in online court records.
