Clean up, beautification days coming to Vandergrift
Plans are underway to paint the pavilion in Vandergrift’s Franklin Park as part of a beautification day May 19, according to the nonprofit Vandergrift Parent Project.
The group said it is looking for volunteers and donations of money and supplies for the beautification day, which also will include installing a community billboard, planting flowers and possibly installing two or three raised garden beds. Supplies being sought include outdoor primer, plants, lumber and the community bulletin board.

Separately, a cleanup project is planned at Franklin Park and other sites in the borough from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 27.
Volunteers are asked to bring tools for an Earth Day cleanup at Franklin Park and other parts of the borough. Prep work for the beautification project also will be done that day, according to Marilee Kessler of the Vandergrift Community Watch.
Volunteers are asked to meet in the parking lot across the street from Franklin Park, adjacent to Vandergrift No. 1 Fire Department, 278 Franklin Ave. There will be refreshments afterward.
