District Judge Cheryl Peck Yakopec spoke at the Lower Burrell Council meeting Monday to report a suspicious silver/gray car with three men that stopped at a city home and other locations.
She asked city police Chief John Marhefka whether he had heard of any incidents involving the car and the men; the chief said no, but that anybody who sees suspicious activity should call 911.
“Residents can be the eyes and ears of the police,” Yakopec said.
In the past week or so, there have been three sightings of three men sitting in a gray/silver sedan in front of several homes in the city, she said.
Yakopec said she spoke at the meeting to let council know some residents have seen the suspicious car and to “just be on the alert.”
The car and its three passengers have been spotted along Thor and Fairway drives and Leechburg Road, she said.
One of the men in the car is very tall while another one is short, Yakopec said.
Recently, two of the three men stopped outside a city home, while the driver kept the car running, Yakopec said. They knocked on the front door but got spooked by something and ran off, she said.
In addition to reports on Facebook, Yakopec said, “people call my office about these kinds of things.”
After the meeting, Yakopec said she knows some of the residents who reported seeing the men and the silver car.
