America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses and Mattress Warehouse of Tarentum have moved into the former Best Buy building at the Village At Pittsburgh Mills in Frazer.

Two stores have moved in and are open for business at the site of the former Best Buy at the Village At Pittsburgh Mills in Frazer.

Township Zoning Officer/Building Inspector Edward Crates said the former consumer electronics store that closed in 2018 was renovated to accommodate multiple tenants, two of which are America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses and Mattress Warehouse of Tarentum.

“It was a big store, and it was partitioned off,” Crates said. “From the one big store, you currently have two, with the possibility of one more tenant, possibly two, depending on how big of a business it might be.”

America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses received its occupancy permit on Oct. 5, and opened on Oct. 9. Mattress Warehouse of Tarentum received its occupancy permit on Nov. 11, and opened on Nov. 15.

“We saw the Village at Pittsburgh Mills as a great opportunity to deliver on this promise of quality eyewear products at low prices. We see a bright future at the Village at Pittsburgh Mills and Pittsburgh, which is a valued market for us and a growth opportunity,” the company said in a statement.

The stores are located at 1025 Village Center Drive, Suite 1 and Suite 2, respectively.

“(They) will be a good addition to that area,” Supervisor Lori Ziencik said.

The township last year received a building permit application from Columbus, Ohio-based ms consultants inc. to perform $1.3 million in renovations to the former Best Buy store. The Ohio company applied for the permit on behalf of Zamias Services Inc., which leases and manages the Village at Pittsburgh Mills.

According to the permit application, the renovations included partitioning the interior of the building to accommodate multiple tenants and adding new entrances and canopies to the building’s exterior.

Zamias President Perry Russ said both tenants are a welcome addition to the shopping center.

A Chase Bank drive-thru ATM is scheduled to open in the shopping center this year, Russ said.
