Greensburg Road restrictions expected until November

The nearly $1 million bridge replacement project along Greensburg Road in Lower Burrell got underway late last week, and will keep a section of the busy road to one lane near Miller’s Lane until Nov. 5.
A temporary traffic light is controlling the single lane traffic.
Millers Lane will be closed during this project with the detour on Pacmil Street to Pacific Avenue.
Initial stories about the project estimated the single lane traffic restriction for three months.
However, that estimate was just for the first phase of the project — replacing one side of the bridge.
The second phase, replacing the other side of the bridge will take another 2.5 months, bringing total time for the single lane restriction to about 5 months, according to Jay Ofsanik, PennDOT spokesman.
PennDOT is replacing the crumbling bridge because it is structurally deficient. Built in 1939, the bridge spans an unnamed tributary of Puckety Creek.
The contractor is Pugliano Construction of Pittsburgh.
