Harmar property owners will see a slight increase to their tax bills this year under the township’s 2026 budget.

The budget includes a 0.25 mill — or 8% — increase.

That means property owners with a home at Harmar’s median assessed value of $91,400 would see their yearly bill go up to about $311, about $23 more than the current bill of $288.

The millage rate has remained flat since at least 2023.

Harmar’s general fund budget is balanced at $2.8 million.

Expenses are up less than 1% over last year’s budget, while income will rise 2%.

Much of the township’s budget is earmarked for payroll expenses. Police wages are set at $718,000, road department wages will add another $214,000 and township staff wages will be $109,000.

That’s in addition to Harmar’s $200,000 to police pension funds and $263,000 in health insurance costs.
