A Valley Jr.-Sr. High School teacher accused by New Kensington police of provoking students to fight in a geometry class in October waived his preliminary hearing.
Court records indicated Bradley Reiher, 46, of East Deer waived the hearing Thursday morning before District Judge Frank J. Pallone Jr.
Reiher’s attorney, Brian D. Aston, declined a TribLive request for comment.
Police filed charges of misdemeanor corruption of minors and endangering the welfare of children against Reiher in December.
Police say that, on Oct. 27, Reiher helped provoke an altercation between two juveniles during the school day.
According to a criminal complaint, two students were arguing and Reiher told a student, “Stand up and do something; quit talking, and do it,” and “Let’s go, you standing up or not?”
The students argued and then began to fight, the complaint said, and a third student joined the fight. Reiher and another teacher broke up the fight, the complaint said.
A video of the incident was posted on Facebook, police said.
A formal arraignment is scheduled Feb. 24 before Westmoreland County Judge Christopher A. Feliciani.
