Highlands School District officials say rumors of a threat against the high school that circulated on social media Thursday morning are not credible.

In an email message sent to parents, high school co-principal Laura Burns said school police worked with members of the administration to conduct “a thorough investigation of the rumor.”

The district also sent out automated telephone calls to convey the message.

“At this time it has been determined that there is no credible evidence of any threat,” Burns wrote. “To avoid any disruption to the school day, we ask that you allow your child’s day to continue as normal.”

Burns said parents will be notified if there are any changes to the school routine.
