Hite Road bridge in Springdale and Harmar to close Friday night through weekend
PennDOT will close the Hite Road Bridge, over Route 28 spanning Springdale and Harmar townships, from 8 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m., Monday, weather permitting.
Work crews will conduct bridge jacking and bearing replacement work.
Additionally, rolling closures will occur on Route 28 in both directions as needed from Friday night from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Saturday for bridge jacking operations.
Bridge traffic will be detoured as follows:
East of the Bridge: From Hite Road, take the ramp to southbound Route 28 toward Pittsburgh, turn off at Harmar exit 11, turn left onto Route 910, turn left onto the northbound Route 28 ramp toward Tarentum, then take the Cheswick/Springdale exit 12 to Hite Road.
West of the Bridge: From Hite Road, take the ramp to northbound Route 28 toward Kittanning, turn off at the Pittsburgh Mills Boulevard exit 12A, turn left onto Pittsburgh Mills Boulevard, turn left onto the southbound Route 28 ramp toward Pittsburgh, take the Cheswick/Springdale exit 12 to Hite Road.
