Kiski Area High School open to the public for first Night of the Arts
Kiski Area High School will showcase hundreds of pieces of student artwork for the first Night of the Arts, a free public art show with live music and more from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., May 13, in the high school atrium.
The art event will feature student projects, food sampling, story time, crafts, sewing, cooking and tech-ed demonstrations.
The school’s award-winning music ensembles will perform throughout the evening.
“The evening was created to celebrate with the community the creative talents and success of our high school students in the fine art electives,” said Melyssa Lynch of the high school Visual Arts Department, who organized the event.
The hundreds of displays come from several Kiski area departments. The Visual Arts Department will provide samples from ceramics, mixed media, paintings, sculptures and drawings, all of which were created in the visual arts courses.
The Technology Education Department will feature CNC router demonstrations, CNC laser demonstrations, CADD demonstrations, Adobe Illustrator demonstrations as well as a showcase of student work from the 2018-2019 school year.
The Family and Consumer Science Department will hold a student cookie competition with attendees voting on the best cookie. There also will be demonstrations on how to make pierogies and appetizers.
