An Apollo woman faces a felony charge after police responding to a report of a car crashing into a yard say they learned the vehicle was stolen and her boyfriend, who was driving, fled from the scene.

Kiski Township police arrested Melissa Marie Wilson, 38, of Armstrong Avenue, charging her with felony receiving stolen property along with possession of drug paraphernalia and making false reports to law enforcement.

Wilson is being detained in the Armstrong County jail after failing to post a $15,000 cash bond, according to court records. She faces a preliminary hearing on March 23 before District Judge James Andring.

An arrest warrant was issued for Wilson’s boyfriend, Korry Alvin Reese, 35, who faces felony charges of flight to avoid arrest, receiving stolen property and five other charges, including drug possession.

Police wrote in a criminal complaint charging Wilson that, on March 11, an officer was dispatched to the 600 block of Canal Street shortly before 6 p.m. after a caller reported to 911 that a vehicle crashed into the front yard and was stuck in a ditch.

Wilson told the officer that Reese “must have nodded off” while driving and crashed the car into the ditch. Police said damage to the car and the yard was “extensive.”

Police say Wilson told them that, after the crash, Reese took her phone and walked down the road to call for help. Wilson could provide no other explanation for why Reese left when the officer informed her that a Wi-Fi connection isn’t needed to make a call and it could have been done from the scene.

Police said the owner of the car reported to Tarentum police on March 9 that it had been stolen by Reese, the complaint said.

The owner of the car, who was contacted by police, gave officers permission to search it.

Officers say they confiscated two metal and three glass pipes used to smoke drugs, including some that contained suspected drug residue. Police also say they found a bent spoon with burn marks that was used to prepare narcotics for injection, the complaint said.

The resident who reported the crash to 911 told police that, after the wreck, they saw a couple arguing before the man walked off, the complaint said.
