A Kiski Township man is charged with assaulting a woman in her bed.

Joshua Reilly, 36, faces a felony strangulation charge and misdemeanor charges of simple assault and reckless endangerment stemming from an incident Sunday evening.

In court papers, Kiski Township Officer Daniel Clark Jr. said he responded to a complaint of a man yelling outside of a residence on Walter Street in Avonmore.

Police said they arrived at the scene around 10:40 a.m. and saw Reilly leaving the house carrying garbage bags with blood on his hand. According to court papers, when Reilly saw police he dropped the bags, put his hands on his head and told police “you caught me.”

Police said Reilly admitted to hitting the woman multiple times and trying to strangle her.

The victim told police she was asleep when Reilly woke her up by punching her and then strangling her.

Police said the victim had redness on her throat and a bruised cheek.

Reilly told police his bloody hand was the result of punching a glass frame or from a nail.

Both Reilly and the victim refused medical treatment.

Reilly remains in the Armstrong County Jail after failing to post $15,000 bond.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled March 3 before District Judge James Andring in Leechburg.

Reilly did not have an attorney listed in court records.
