Kiski Township officers accuse woman of drunken driving with 2 toddlers, infant in vehicle; felony charges filed 

Kiski Township police accused a woman of driving drunk with her three young children in the vehicle when she failed three field sobriety tests after jumping the curb.

Officers responding to a report of a single-vehicle crash shortly after 8 p.m. Dec. 1 said they found a Nissan Juke SUV up on the curb in front of a used car lot in the 2100 block of River Road in North Apollo, according to a criminal complaint.

Jocelyn Alalah Riley, 24, of the 100 block of Ivy Lane in Parks Township was charged with three felony counts of endangering the welfare of children along with three counts of reckless endangerment and counts of driving under the influence, careless driving and ignoring a traffic signal.

Riley was being detained in the Armstrong County jail in lieu of a $25,000 cash bond, according to court records. Her preliminary hearing scheduled for last Wednesday, Dec. 7 before District Judge James Andring was postponed until Jan. 4.

Police said Riley was still behind the wheel when officers arrived, and her three children, ages 4, 3 and 1 month, were in the backseat.

Emergency medical personnel who responded to the scene said one of kids was complaining of head pain and had abrasions on their face, police said.

The child was taken to AHN Forbes Hospital in Monroeville after the children were picked up by their father, the complaint said.

Several empty Jim Beam “shot” bottles were spotted on the passenger side floor, the complaint said.

An officer administered a series of field sobriety tests after noticing Riley was slurring her words and her eyes were bloodshot, police said, but she could not perform any of the three tests.

After a field breathalyzer test detected the presence of alcohol, Riley was arrested and taken to have blood drawn so it could be analyzed to determine the level of alcohol or drugs in her system, according to investigators.
